Get Back Loretta & Frandino

Filed under: Other — admin @ 8:33 pm

First off, let me say that I rarely ever link to any Myspace pages (other than celebrity myspace pages), but I’m doing this as a favor for my buddy Frandino. Frandino isn’t his real name.. it’s Chris, but that’s besides the point. I always thought this guy would never amount to anything in life… in fact, we were even roommates at one time until I had to kick him out. He loves sitting around smoking ciggies, drinking beer and being lazy. However, recently he decided to started a company called A&R entertainment and began to promote & sign bands. Turns out, he actually found a good one called ‘Get Back Loretta’ … they band he signed has even won ‘best new artist’ at the 2005 San Diego Music Awards. So, as a favor to my friend Chris, I told him I’d give him some free publicity on my website (yes, i know.. i’m such a nice guy) … here’s the scoop on his band, and there’s also some free music to listen to. If you have Myspace, and like the band, please add them to your friends list :D

“Often described as an amalgam of The Beatles, Ben Folds Five, and the Cure, Get Back Loretta’s unpretentious nature is evident in a cutting edge sound that is both upbeat and refreshingly soulful. After less than two years as a group, Get Back Loretta’s engaging stage presence, prolific songwriting abilities, unique personalities, and powerful vocals have already begun to attract the attention of industry insiders. They have received rave reviews from absolute punk, made an appearance on FOX ROX (Fox’s underground music show), discussed their future goals on the local FM 94/9 Sunday interview with Tim Pyles, rocked a sold-out Troubadour with indie giant Circa Survive, and won the coveted “best new artist” prize at the San Diego Music Awards in 2005. In a recent review of the Get Back Loretta EP in the magazine San Diego CityBeat, Troy Johnson wrote, “I thought I had discovered the best unknown band in San Diego…Best out-of-nowhere goodness I’ve heard…” While we tend to agree with his assessment, the current success the band enjoys has its concrete genesis in the prior experiences of its members.”
